The Brisbane Broncos are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the city of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland. Founded in 1988, the Broncos play in Australasia's elite competition, the National Rugby league (NRL) premiership. They have won six premierships and two World club challenges The Broncos have achieved four minor premierships during their 22 years in competition, making them the League's most successful club over the past two decades. Brisbane have never been defeated in a Grand Final, and between 1991 and 2009, never failed to qualify for the finals. In 2010, Brisbane finished 10th in the NRL premiership, failing to make the semi finals for the first time in 19 years. The club has the largest fan base in the NRL, and one of the highest average attendance of any rugby club in the world; 36,336 in the 2010 NRL season. They are also the most successful club in the history of Rugby League, having won 63% of their games since their induction in 1988.

The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. They compete in Australasia’s premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. Playing in red and blue, the Knights joined the top tier competition in 1988; 79 years after the previous Newcastle based team, the Newcastle Rebels, had departed the Sydney competition with the formation of a separate league competition based in the Newcastle region.

 The St George Illawarra Dragons became the NRL’s first joint venture club after it merged with the Illawarra Steelers and the St George Dragons. After losing the 1999 Grand Final to Melbourne in the inaugural year, the Dragons’ faithful endured several years of heartache, before master coach Wayne Bennett steered the club to the premiership in 2010, and have built a strong outfit around the likes of Jamie Soward, Matt Cooper and Mark Gasnier
